Joy Patrice Campbell-Cox was born September 25, 1969, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Roscoe Campbell, III and Andrea P. Lamb. She lived a life marked by service, compassion, strength, and deep devotion to her family.
Joy grew up in northwest Indianapolis alongside her brothers, Rocky and Scott. She attended Pike High School and later obtained her nursing license from Ivy Tech, exemplifying her lifelong commitment to caring for others.
On October 19, 1996, Joy married Ronnie K. Cox, and the couple raised their family in the Lawrence area. As a mother, Joy was deeply committed to providing her children with a warm and loving environment. She lived a life of selflessness and sacrifice for her children, embracing every opportunity to support and uplift her children, always making time for their needs and celebrating their achievements.
Joy dedicated many years to the nursing profession, both in traditional roles and in home health care, providing compassionate support to the sick and elderly, ensuring their comfort and dignity in their golden years. Her patients knew her not only for her expertise but also for her caring demeanor, kind heart, and loving spirit.
She loved God wholeheartedly and embraced life with joy, radiating her faith through her words and caring for those around her. Joy was always present, making time for everyone she knew, and her beautiful and infectious smile and laugh could light up any room. Her patience and loyalty shone in all her relationships, and her unyielding faith in her family was a guiding force throughout her life. Joy had a deep passion for music and a love for cooking, which she shared with family and friends. She cherished moments spent laughing with her loved ones, creating lifelong memories filled with joy and connection.
Joy departed this life on March 1, 2026, surrounded by her husband and children, whom she held dear to her heart.
Joy was preceded in death by her father, Roscoe Campbell III, her mother, Andrea P. Lamb, and her brother, Roscoe Campbell, IV. She is survived by her loving husband, Ronnie K. Cox, and her seven children: William Brandon Oliver (Angela), Jasmine Jackson-Curry (Antoine), Ronnie Cox, Jr., Karlie Cox, Tamara Cox (Jae), Cameron Cox, and Journey Cox. Joy took immense pride in her role as a grandmother to her six grandchildren: Temperance Oliver, Roman Oliver, Kaydence Curry, Aspen Curry, Adonis Curry, and Ace Rodriguez. She also leaves behind her brother, Scott Campbell (Rachael), her Aunt Esther “Neci” Bryant, and host of nephews, nieces, and cousins, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.
Joy Patrice Campbell-Cox will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for her comforting spirit and unwavering support of family, friends, and all whom she encountered.
