Joseph W. Schroeder

Joseph W. Schroeder, a beloved member of the community, passed away on April 5, 2024, in his hometown of Anderson, IN. Born on January 6, 1960, Joseph lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and an unwavering spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Joseph brightened the lives of those around him with his infectious personality. He was known for his endearing habit of greeting everyone as "trouble" and his ever-present smile that welcomed both friends and strangers alike. His childlike wonder and free-spirited nature endeared him to many, making him a joy to be around.

In his leisure time, Joseph found joy in playing video games and movies, allowing his playful spirit to shine through even in moments of relaxation. Despite facing health challenges throughout his life, he continued to embrace each day with a positive outlook and a sense of humor that inspired all who knew him.

One of Joseph's proudest accomplishments was his participation in the Special Olympics and his dedication to the Hopewell Center where he received support and care throughout his entire life. His resilience and determination served as an inspiration to many, demonstrating the strength of his character and the depth of his heart.

Joseph will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his loving family and friends who will carry forward the memory of his gentle spirit and unwavering kindness.

May we remember Joseph not with sorrow, but with gratitude for the light he brought into our lives and the lessons he taught us about love, perseverance, and the beauty of embracing each day with an open heart. Rest in peace, dear Joseph. Your legacy will continue to live on in our hearts forever.

Joseph is survived by his mother Regina Schroeder; siblings Lisa Stapleton (Marty), Shane Shroeder, and Ross Schroeder; nieces and nephews Matthew Stapleton (Lauren), Leslie Chodkowski (Eldon), Brittany Schroeder, and Hunter Schroeder; uncle Paul Barrett; and cousins Paulette and Teresa. 

He is preceded in death by his father Joseph G. Schroeder; grandparents Paul and Juanita Barrett and Nelson and Grace Schroeder. 

A visitation will be held on Monday April 15, 2024 from 11am-1pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Services Anderson with a funeral service beginning at 1pm.
