Jonathan Edward Duke

JONATHAN EDWARD DUKE was born to Cecil and Mabel Duke on April 21, 1949, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the eldest of three sons. Jonathan was educated through the Indianapolis Public School system, where he attended Shortridge High School and later received his GED. Jonathan was employed by Ford Motor Company for many years until his retirement.

Jonathan was married to Denise Davis on April 3, 1979. To this union two children were born, Kendra and Atom. His daughter Kendra would always say, “Without him, we wouldn’t be here.” Jonathan was an avid gun collector and loved to work on his cars. He was a straight-forward person who didn’t pull punches. Jonathan would tell you exactly how it was, and he marched to the beat of his own drum. He was a tough “Son of a gun.”

Jonathan Edward Duke departed this life on October 1, 2022, at the age of 73 years old. His presence will be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Mabel Duke; and his brothers, David Williams and Benjamin Duke. Jonathan leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Kendra Duke and son, Atom Duke; his grandchildren, Zenobia, Zachariah and Zeleste Duke; along with a host nieces, nephews and other loved ones.
