Jon Hellis

Jon C. Hellis, age 64, of Muncie, passed away unexpectedly on November 19, 2022, at IU Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 31, 1958, in Muncie, Indiana.

Jon was a hard worker throughout his life. He worked for BorgWarner for 27 years in almost every department, served as a Police Officer for Eaton, Daleville, and Delaware County for 21 years, and was a volunteer fireman for Cowan for 11 years. He experienced so many dangerous situations to make sure others were safe. Later in life he worked for Ball Hospital and then Navient, in which he was known as the number one student loan collector. Jon was a loving family man. He was scruffy on the outside but on the inside, he was a big teddy bear. If he was your friend, then you had a real friend in Jon. In his free time, he enjoyed playing with remote airplanes and helicopters. He was extremely funny and should have taken his humor on the road. He was a wonderful husband, dad, and grandpa who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jon is survived by his wife of 32 years, Rhonda Hellis; son Camaron Hellis; and grandchildren Aubrey and Austin.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Jim Hellis and Patty Hellis.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 9, 2022, at 6pm at the Cowan Lions Club.
