John Franklin Gray, born on January 14, 1956, in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on February 27, 2026, in Indianapolis. He will be remembered as a loving and caring individual, who touched the lives of many with his warm spirit and dedication to his family.
John dedicated many years of his career to the warehouse and shipping department at RCA, where he was well-regarded for his work ethic and commitment. It was in his personal life, however, where John truly shined as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He spent over thirty years as a good husband to his beloved wife, Kristine Gray. His love for his daughter, Nikole, was profound, and he cherished the moments spent with his granddaughter, serving as a doting figure in her life.
A man of many interests, John found joy in dancing and listening to music during his free time. He held a special fondness for the lively sounds of disco, enjoying artists such as the Bee Gees and Journey. His passion for dancing took him to various dance clubs throughout Indianapolis, where he embraced the rhythm of the night. Additionally, John enjoyed roller-skating at local rinks, creating vibrant memories along the way.
After the passing of his daughter Nikole, John sought solace and purpose in rescuing stray cats. He found healing in caring for these animals, which brought immeasurable comfort to his heart during a difficult time. Among the cats he loved, Tigger, Baby Boo Boo, and Chili held a special place in his heart, as they had a unique bond that echoed his capacity for love and compassion.
John's legacy will continue through his surviving family members: his beloved wife, Kristine Gray; his brothers, Donald G. Gray, Patrick L. Gray, Rex D. Gray, Robert O. Gray; his sisters, Marian C. Donner, Lavonna P. Beauchamp, Patricia D. White, Dorothea W. Gray, Tamarie T. Beach, Marilyn K. Harvey, Marlene G. Summers, and Kathleen A. Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald E. Gray; mother, Geneva Gray; daughter, Nikole Lynn Nichols; brother, Guy Michael Gray; and sisters, Donna J. Gray and Geneva S. Gray.
A visitation service will be held on March 6, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services located at 1604 W Morris St, Indianapolis, IN 46221, followed by a Celebration of Life from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
John Franklin Gray will be remembered not only for his dedication to his work and family but also for his kindness and the love he shared with both humans and animals alike. He leaves behind cherished memories that will be held dear in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
