In Loving Memory of Jodi Dawn (Finney) Stuffel September 2, 1969 – June 10, 2025
In a poem written to his father, Dylan Thomas urged, “Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” True to those words, Jodi Dawn (Finney) Stuffel, 55, fought with strength and courage until the very end. After a brave battle with cancer, her light was gently dimmed on the evening of June 10, 2025, at 11:46 p.m., surrounded by loved ones who offered words of comfort as she entered the arms of Jesus.
Born on September 2, 1969, in Anderson, Indiana, Jodi was the daughter of Thomas E. Finney and Shirley F. (Carpenter) Finney. She spent most of her life in Anderson, graduating from Anderson High School in 1988. Jodi dedicated much of her career to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her compassion for the elderly was evident in everything she did. She also worked for Delphi for a time before being laid off, continuing afterward to find strength in serving others.
Jodi is survived by her loving partner, Kevin Jachim, and her six beloved children: Michael Garrett (Taylor), Shelby Dailey, Destiny Garrett, Hannah Garrett (LeVante), Logan Stuffel (Alfonzo), and Ericka Stuffel. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Zachary, Wyatt, Ella, Oliver, and Carter Garrett; Adrian Price; Jovani Flores, and Nadilynn Baker. She is also survived by her mother, Shirley Finney; brothers Mike and Steve; sisters Stachia, Amber, and Tyne; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.
Of all the roles Jodi embraced in life, none gave her more joy than being “Mimi.” Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Even in her final days, she expressed a deep desire to stay on this earth just a little longer — to watch them grow, to continue to love and guide them. Her love for her children and grandchildren was boundless, and her strength in the face of illness was a testament to that love.
In her younger years, Jodi had a deep passion for 1980s music and attended many rock concerts. She was outspoken, sensitive, and fiercely loyal and never failed to stand by those she loved.
Jodi was preceded in death by her father, Thomas E. Finney; Grandparents William and Shirley Hamilton and Elmer and Evelyn Finney; along with several beloved aunts and uncles.
Services to honor Jodi’s life will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Legacy Funeral Home & Crematorium in Anderson, with Pastor Art Jaggard officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who offered prayers, kind words, or support during this difficult time. Words cannot capture the emptiness Jodi’s passing has left behind. She was deeply loved — as a mother, Mimi, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend — and her absence will be felt for all the years to come.
We love you, Jodi. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28
