Joanne “Jo” Walden, age 70, of Indianapolis, Indiana entered this life on December 3rd, 1952, in Hazard, Kentucky. She was the loving daughter of Eugene and Edith Lewis. Joanne was raised in Hazard until the family moved to Indianapolis at a young age. On December 18th, 1969, Joanne was united in marriage to Mark Walden in Indianapolis, Indiana. They were blessed with two sons, Arthur “Billy” and Greg Walden. Joanne attended Lawrence Central High School and worked at Ell Enterprises-Jewelry Displays and Showcases for 30 years with Sherry, who became her closest friend.
If ever there was situation to be made light of, Joanne was certainly the one who could make everyone laugh. Her wit and ability to express sarcasm as reality was a gift, we all could only wish to possess. Jo enjoyed spending summers with Mark and Lady camping with her family on the Ohio River. Joanne died on Saturday, December 24th, 2022, surrounded by her family and loved ones in the comfort of her home.
Joanne’s purpose in life was being a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. Joanne is survived by her husband of 53 years, Mark Walden; 2 children, Billy (Sasha) Walden and Greg (Buffy) Walden, 5 grandchildren Vince Walden, Laura Walden, Britney (Trey) Esther, Ray Walden, Samantha Reynolds & brother, Nelson (Kim) Lewis, 3 sisters, Lucy (Paris) Lewis-Johnston, Betty (Doug) Roegner and Wilma Jodrey and several nieces and nephews and her loving Basset Hound Lady. Joanne was proceeded in death by her parents, Eugene, and Edith Lewis, grandchildren Niquita & Sebastien Walden, brothers, Herbert “Red” Lewis, Johnny Lewis and Cecil Lewis, nephew, Donald Scott.
Joanne is loved greatly by many and will be equally missed.
