Joan Alma Allison, 83, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026.

Born on April 30, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Joan lived a life defined by dedication, compassion, and a deep love for learning and family. She devoted an extraordinary fifty years to teaching English, shaping the minds and lives of countless students. Her passion for education was further reflected in her pursuit of a master’s degree from Ball State University.

Joan found great joy in many simple pleasures. She was an avid sports enthusiast, cheering faithfully for the Indianapolis Colts, the Indiana Fever, and enjoying all types of sporting events. She had a green thumb and took pride in planting and tending to her flowers. Her voice could often be heard lifted in song as an active member of her church choir, where she found both fellowship and spiritual fulfillment.

Above all else, Joan was devoted to her family. She was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother who treasured time with those she held dear with. Known for her warmth and storytelling, Joan delighted in sharing her life experiences and memories, leaving lasting impressions on everyone fortunate enough to listen. She also cherished traveling and the opportunity to explore new places and create lasting memories.

Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bryce L. Allison, and her parents, William and Winnie Thielking.

She is survived by her four sons: Aric (Cindy) Allison, Michael (Dawn) Allison, David Allison, and James (Hailey) Allison. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Kaitlyn Smith, Zackery (Jacqueline) Allison, Kortney Salgado, Winnie Allison, Bryce Allison, Matthew Allison, Cameron Zion, Landon Rothell, and Elijah Rothell. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Issac, Tayleighahna, Scarlett, Penelope, Dahlia, Yaretzi, Adalyne, Finn, and Aleighna. She is further survived by her brother, Irvin (Connie) Thielking, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

Joan’s life was a testament to kindness, dedication, and love. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched as an educator, mother, and friend. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will occur Monday June 8 at 12PM with a service to immediately follow at 1PM at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Services Anderson.
