Jeffrey (Jeff) Wayne Wolter, 72, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on April 20, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Jeff was born on December 29, 1953, in Seymour, Indiana, to the late Charles F. and Mary E. (Shelton) Wolter.
After graduating from Seymour High School in 1972, Jeff proudly served in the United States Air Force for five years. During his service, he earned several honors, including a Meritorious Service Medal, a Joint Service Commendation Medal, a Certificate of Recognition for Pride of Accomplishment, Outstanding Participation and Contribution, and Zealous Support, and Operator of the Month Award. Following his honorable discharge, he continued his education at Indiana University in both Bloomington and Indianapolis before beginning a long and dedicated career as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service, where he worked until his retirement in 2015.
Jeff had a lifelong passion for sports of all kinds, especially IU basketball and Yankees baseball. He achieved lifelong dreams when he watched IU football's perfect season and met his childhood idol, Mickey Mantle.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Charles F. Wolter, Jr. and Mary Jo (Wolter) Weasner.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Patti (Gahan) Wolter; daughter, Allison Wolter; and siblings, Steve Wolter (Cathy) and Helen (Wolter) Mehm (John); along with many extended family members and friends.
We invite you to join us for a public celebration of life on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Villages of Oak Manor Clubhouse, 17130 Drummond Place, Westfield, IN 46074. Please do not send floral arrangements to the Clubhouse, instead we invite you to honor Jeff's memory by performing a simple act of kindness for someone in need. His final resting place will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis, Indiana.
