Jeffrey Duane Odom, known to family and friends as Jeff, passed away on June 30, 2026, in Avon at the age of 61. Born on January 8, 1965, in Indianapolis, Jeff lived a life marked by quiet generosity, a playful spirit, and steadfast devotion to those he loved.
Jeff spent his professional years as a forklift operator at Langham Logistics in Plainfield. He approached his work with dedication and diligence, earning the respect of colleagues and friends. Always mindful of others, Jeff was known to put the needs of those around him above his own, offering help readily and without hesitation.
To know Jeff was to know the joy he found in simple pleasures. A true sports enthusiast, the Indianapolis Colts thrilled him through autumn Sundays, while the Indiana Pacers kept him cheering in winter and spring. As summer arrived, Jeff’s loyalty shifted to the Chicago Cubs, always hoping for a big win. Aside from being a passionate fan, he greatly enjoyed bowling, finding camaraderie and fun in every frame.
Jeff’s warmth and lightheartedness brightened every room he entered. Though he was often reserved, his kindness was boundless—he would give a person his last dollar or the shirt off his back without a second thought. Jeff had a knack for laughter, often at his own expense, and his good-natured self-deprecation became legendary among those who knew him well. Many fondly recall the times his clumsiness led to unforgettable moments: sitting atop a paint bucket that tipped over, leaving him covered head to toe in white, or rolling down a hill perched on a cooler with wheels. Perhaps the tale best capturing Jeff’s comedic legacy is the story of him whistling at a pretty girl and accidentally launching his dentures in the process—an anecdote still told with affection and laughter.
Above all, Jeff cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Charlene Odom, and his sons, Joshua Odom and Zachary Odom, who were his greatest pride. His father, Harry Odom, continues on, along with his sisters, Linda Neese, Debbie Hobson, and Kathy Odom, and his brother, Kevin Odom. Jeff was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Odom, whose memory he held close.
