James Randall "Randy" Willis

James Randall “Randy” Willis, 65, passed away unexpectedly Sept. 10th, 2022.

Randy was born on November 17, 1956, in Anderson, the son of the James Orville Willis and Dolores Campbell.

Randy spent many years as a business owner of Anderson Taxi before retiring. Randy was devoted to the community of Anderson, Indiana, and it was not uncommon for him to share his ideas with local politicians for helping Anderson toward economic recovery. He often contributed politically focused Letters to the Editor in the Herald Bulletin.

Randy had many talents and had many interests. He was a brilliant intellectual who had a passion for constitutional law, politics, and history. He was an advocate for the underdog. He enjoyed playing video games and participated in fantasy baseball yearly. He was an avid sports fan. He was excellent at billiards and often placed highly in multiple tournaments. He was an animal lover, and all dogs fell in love with him upon meeting him. He was a man devoted to loving, caring for, and making his large circle of friends and family laugh.

Randy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Duretta Jane Willis, his daughter and son-in-law, Bridgett (Andrew) Nelson; daughter and son-in-law, Aleska (Paul) Hagan, and son and partner James Willis and Natasha Surface; multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. Randy is also survived by siblings Kinra Willis Green and Jay Murphy. Randy was preceded in death by his father James Orville Willis and sister Amber Murphy.  Randy is survived by many more not listed, a large circle of friends and family whose lives, hearts, and spirits he touched and left lasting impressions upon.

A visitation will be held on Friday September 16, 2022, from 11am-12pm with a funeral service beginning at 12pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson.
