James Ronald “Ron” Newman, 84, of Noblesville, Indiana passed away Friday, January 17, 2025.
He was born at home on Memorial Day, May 30,1940 in Muhlenberg County,Greenville, KY, to Theodore and Irene (Robertson) Newman. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a young man; he had the opportunity to serve in High Wycombe, England. Later, Ron worked at his family’s dry cleaning business, helped build the Pennyrile Parkway, and became an environmental engineer for Peabody Coal Company. He resided in Evansville, Indiana for over thirty years.
Family was Ron’s true treasure and joy. Preceding him in death were his parents, his stepson, Doug Certain, two brothers:Theodore (T.R.) Newman, Jr. and Terry Paul Newman, his sister-in-law, Dolores (Cohen) Newman, and his beloved in-laws, Harold and Winnie Grove.
He is survived by his wife, Gwen (Grove) Newman of Noblesville, Indiana; three children: Brad (Sonia) Newman of Georgetown, KY, Annie (Stuart) Hilbert of Noblesville, IN, and Lisa (Kirk) Cash of Indianapolis, IN; six grandchildren: Sydney, Taylor, Nicholas, Peyton, Sebastian, and Evelyn, and one great-grandson. He is also survived by his brother, Roger Newman, two sister-in-laws, Eleanor Newman and Marilyn Newman, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He loved his family so very much, and he will be greatly missed.
