James "Jim" William Brown, 68, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on October 9, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital in Greenwood. He was born on October 21, 1957, to Raymond and Lorita Brown.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. A dedicated and hardworking man, he spent many years working in construction. He also worked as an ambulance driver for EMAS, a job he truly loved. His work reflected his lifelong commitment to helping and serving others.
Jim enjoyed fishing, cooking, and spending time with his family -- especially his beloved granddaughters, Casey, Ava, and Reagan. His outwardly gruff demeanor was betrayed by the tending and caring nature of the man beneath the hard exterior. He was a gifted storyteller who loved sharing humorous and memorable tales of the many adventures he experienced in his younger years. His stories and sense of humor brought joy to those around him and will be fondly remembered.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved son, James Brown, and his parents, Raymond and Lorita Brown. He is survived by his former wife, Susan Gray; his daughter, Ashleigh Roberts; his son, Robert Matthew Brown; his granddaughters, Casey Brown, Ava Pearson, and Reagan Curran; his brothers, Scott Brown, Raymond Brown, and Charlie Brown; his sister, Anola Brown; and many other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
A visitation for the family and friends of Jim Brown will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services - Indianapolis located at 1604 W. Morris Street. The visitation will be from 2:00-3:30PM and the funeral service will immediately follow.
Jim will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed, but the stories he shared, the time he spent with those he loved, and the lasting impression he made upon their lives will never be forgotten.
