Ida Mae Whitney

Ms. Ida Mae Whitney, the daughter of Walter Skaggs and Rowena Settles Skaggs was born May 3, 1937,  in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents. 

 

Ida received her primary and secondary education in the Indianapolis Public Schools Systems. She attended Crispus Attucks High School. 

She was beloved member of Eastern Star Church, where she participated in the Senior Saints Ministry.

 

Ida was a loving, feisty and caring sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She will be remembered for her sassy personality and clever saying. She thoroughly enjoyed watching day time soap operas, action movies and playing cards. She loved to dance. 

 

Ms. Ida Mae Whitney departed this life on Friday April 19, 2024, at the age of eighty six years old. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Lee, George, Charles Skaggs, John Skaggs, and Alvin Skaggs; and her sisters, Ella Skaggs, Judy Skaggs (Crabtree), and Anna Skaggs (Fields). 

 

She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved daughter Valerie (Jimmy) Pearson, her beloved sons, Jimmy Whitney, David (Kimberly) Whitney; her brother, Thomas Skaggs and David Kaiser; loving grandchildren, La Shaunda Whitney, Shannon Whitney, Jimmy (Alicia) Whitney Jr, Epiphany Hawkins, Valerie Hawkins II, David Whitney Jr,  Diamond Whitney, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
