Ian Michael Flanders

October 13, 2000 — March 16, 2024

Fortville

Ian Michael Flanders, born in Anderson on October 13, 2000, left this world unexpectedly on March 16, 2024, in Fortville, IN. Ian's life was a colorful tapestry of experiences that wove together his passions and pursuits in a way that was uniquely his own.

In his young life, Ian wore many hats - from being an Au Pair in Germany to serving as a pharmacy technician, all while exploring the realms of performing arts as a student. He constantly sought new horizons and embraced the diversity of opportunities that came his way.

Ian's love for music knew no bounds; he could often be found playing vinyl records on his record player, delving into a wide array of musical genres. His eclectic taste reflected the depth of his personality - funny, silly, musical, loving, helpful, grateful, empathetic, smart, thoughtful, insightful, deep-minded, spiritual; a truly one-of-a-kind individual with a touch of goofiness that endeared him to all who knew him.

Among his many joys in life was sharing moments with his brother Seth through video games. Their bond was strengthened by shared adventures at their grandmother's house. He enjoyed venturing outside with his brother and cousins enjoying each other. When not immersed in gaming sessions, Ian's adventurous spirit led him to travel fearlessly and seek the soothing embrace of the ocean including Myrtle Beach and Alabama.

Education played a significant role in Ian's life as well. He graduated from Seminary during his high school years. He graced the halls of Anderson Young Ballet and accumulated college credits along the way. His proudest accomplishments revolved around his passion for dancing - a talent he nurtured from a young age with dedication and flair in tap and ballet. Another proud accomplishment was his achievement as an Eagle Scout. It is not easy to become an Eagle Scout and Ian was one of the few percent of people to achieve Eagle Scout status.

Ian's quest for learning extended beyond textbooks; he approached life with curiosity and an open heart. Whether it was mastering a piece of music or exploring new avenues of self-expression through dance, he did so with relentless enthusiasm and boundless creativity.

Ian is survived by his Dad and Mum Michael and Angela Flanders; Brother Seth Flanders; Grandmother Sheila Dunn (Daniel); Grandfather Ian MacGregor; Grandmother Penny Jo Kopp; Aunts Jennifer MacGregor, Deborah MacGregor, Renada Hays, and Cathy Simonson; Uncles Stephen MacGregor, Joe Flanders (Joyce), Eddie Flanders, and Andy Flanders (Mylinda); Cousins Logan, Brooklynn, Brandon, London, Matthew, Jordan, Cameron, Harrison, Emily, Daniel, Joel, Kyleigh, Keegan, Joey, Justin, Jonah, Jackie, Josie, Frankie, Jacob, David, Charity, Faith Anne, Celeste, Jessie Willis, Andy, Kearstin, Ammon, Abram, Serenity, Cameron, Auliam, Xander, Amira, Jackie, and Mishell.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather Charles Kopp.
