Helen Marie Andrews, 91, of McCordsville, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026 surrounded by loved ones. She was born on September 5, 1934, in Indianapolis, to the late James B. and Mary Ellen (McNece) White. Helen attended Manuel High School where she met her high school sweetheart, John F. Maier, and eventual husband with whom she had five children.
Helen was a homemaker and devoted to her children. After raising her family, Helen built a career at St. Vincent’s Hospital where she was selected to travel to California to learn computer skills. She was then in charge of making all the employee identification badges until her retirement.
Helen was a social butterfly her whole life who loved being around family and friends; she never met a stranger. She cherished her role as a grandmother and great grandmother. Helen enjoyed spending time in Florida with her loved ones. When she moved to Traditions assistance living four years ago, she instantly made many new friends and tried to participate in every activity that they offered. She loved playing cards, bingo, having conversations in the courtyard with her friends, and watching the birds.
She is preceded in death by her parents, mentioned above; loving husband, John “Jack” Andrews; sons, John F. Maier II and Otto J. Maier; daughter, Terri L. Johnson; son-in-law, Mark Rogian; and siblings Bobby, Barbara, Patty, Mary Alice, Wanda, Dorris, and Betty.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Mary Lou Rogian and Miera M. (David) Buckner; daughter-in-law Linda Maier; grandchildren, Sara, Amanda, Ryan, Timmy, Brittany, Michael, Drew, Chase, and Carlie; 18 great grandchildren; and sister, Judith Norris; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends; and her special friend, Willard Hartz. Her brother, Jim White, passed away 5 days after Helen, on August 24th.
