(Hazel) Jeanette Johnson passed away on April 15, 2024, at the age of 75.  She was born on October 6, 1948, to Garvin Davis and Hazel Butler in Albany, Kentucky. Jeanette relocated to Hoopeston, Illinois as a young girl.  She graduated from Hoopeston East Lynn High School in 1966.  After meeting her husband, Norman, they relocated to Greenfield in 1969.  Jeanette spent many years working in healthcare administration.  She spent many years at Hancock Regional as well as Riverview Hospital.  She spent the last 20 years working for Indiana Neurology Associates before retiring in 2019.

Gertie, as she was lovingly known to her grandkids, enjoyed spending time with her family, Gambling, and traveling.  She enjoyed trips with her kids and grandkids the most.  Visiting Florida, Tennessee, Las Vegas, and Mexico to name a few of her favorites.  Even into her late 60’s and early 70’s she could be found letting the grandkids talk her into horseback riding, motorcycle riding, kayaking, etc.  She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and being SASSY!

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Garvin Davis, Hazel Butler, her wonderful bonus father since she was 12, Thomas Butler.  Her previous husband and dear friend, James Norman Johnson in 2013. She was also preceded by her beloved sister, Betty Jean Davis, and her brother Leon Davis and many special aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jeanette is survived by her children, Jamie Jeanette Rottinghaus (Randy) and Chad Johnson; grandchildren, Keagan, Kourtney, and Kinzie Rottinghaus, Taylor and Kal Johnson, and great- grandson, Braxton Mershon.  Sister-in-Law, Cathi Davis.  She also will be lovingly remembered by her Tennessee family, many special nieces and nephews, along with a long list of the grandkids, whom she lovingly referred to as her bonus brats.

Per her request, there will be no calling.  Her wishes were to have a Celebration of Life at a later date and for Slots to be played and laughs to be had by all.  Date will be communicated in the future.
