Graciela Ruiz

Graciela Ruiz, a lifelong resident of South Chicago Heights and Olympia Fields, Illinois, passed away on February 14, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana where she resided with her 2 sisters. She was born on December 27, 1947, to Maclovio and Christina Ruiz, in Brownsville, Texas. She was the fifth of six daughters. She attended and graduated from Bloom Township High School. She worked in Chicago for several years and also worked in customer service.

She is survived by: Minerva (Ruiz) Lattimer, (sister formerly living in Darmstadt, Germany) and Gloria J. (Ruiz) Schurick (sister) from Indianapolis, IN. She is also survived by many nieces: Courtney (Hammond) Fernandez, Stephanie (Hammond) Migues and Adria Maddaleni-Wallace; nephews: Peter Schmidt, John Hammond, Paul Schaefer, Matthew Maddaleni, Alexis Schurick, Daniel Schurick; and several grandnieces and grandnephews that knew and adored their Aunt Gracie. There are several friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and warmth and will undoubtedly remember her sweet gentleness and giving nature.

She is preceded in passing by her father Maclovio Ruiz, mother Christina (Balderas) Ruiz, sisters Lourdes (Ruiz) Vertucci, Juliette (Ruiz) Hammond, and Christine (Ruiz) Maddaleni.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor at 7316 Lions Head Drive Apt. D, Indianapolis, IN 46260 on Saturday, March 22 from 2:00 -4:00PM.
