Gary Wayne Doss

Gary “Silver Fox” Doss, 63, passed away unexpectedly in his home on September 6, 2022.  He was born on October 8, 1958, in Indianapolis, IN.  Gary graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1980.  He loved to play basketball and was known to be the best left-handed player the neighborhood had ever seen.  Gary loved to be in his boat on the lake; fishing pole in hand and listening to country music.  He spent a lot of his time watching (or arguing over) NASCAR & Football.  He sure did love Dale Earnhardt and the Dallas Cowboys.  Gary dedicated his free time to making his yard the best on the block; but he put just as much time and pride into his decorations.  Christmas being his favorite because of the time he got to spend with his family.  Although he didn’t beat around the bush with his rhetoric, Gary was known to charm anyone who got to know him; he was without a doubt a ladies man.  Gary took a lot of pride in his country and had an overwhelming support of the armed forces.  The U.S. Marine Corps was particularly near and dear to his heart as his son, daughter-in-law, and grandson all proudly served.

He is preceded in death by his parents, the late Milton and Elizabeth (Padgett) Doss; and his dog, Rambo.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Nicole Doss; sons, James Darren (Erin) Doss, Michael Edwards Doss, and Anthony Doss; grandchildren, Lil’ D, EmiLee, Ashton, Triston, Isaiah, Isabella, Lil’ Jason, Lil’ Will, Donovan, Cayden, Caleigh, Elijah, and Little Anthony; siblings, Linda, Steve, Debbie, Jerry, and Mike; nieces and nephews, Nancy, Jeremiah, Stevie, Zach, Candi, Shelby, Crystal, and Brandy.

Gary had a plethora of life-long friends and extended family that we wish we had room to acknowledge.  He’d never say it out loud, but Gary loved all of you dearly.

Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm on Friday, September 16, 2022, at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, with a service to start at 1pm.  Entombment to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Nicole Doss or James Doss to help with final expenses.
