Gary Joe Alfrey, age 57, of Anderson, passed away at St. Vincent Anderson Hospital on October 18, 2022. He was born on June 29, 1965, to Larry and Carol Alfrey.

Gary worked as a dairy order-writer for Meijer for 20+ years. He was a dedicated family man, and nothing meant more to him than his wife and kids. He was kind, loving, and devoted. He loved to be a jokester and had a funny, sarcastic sense of humor. Throughout life he enjoyed participating in bowling leagues and playing softball. He truly cared about people and always made sure his family had everything they needed. He was a wonderful husband, dad, papaw, brother, son and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Cindy Alfrey; Mother Carol Alfrey; daughters Christina Sarvis (John), Ashley Lacy, and Tia Lacy (Stephon); grandchildren Kyle Stanley, Javion Lacy, Jaionna Lacy, Tai’Shon Ruffin, and Tremell Ruffin; siblings Kenny Alfrey (Karen), Sandy Alfrey, and Leah Alfrey; nephews Justin, Ben, Chris, and Ryan; Uncle Kevin Rankel (Kim); and his beloved dog Bella.

Gary loved his Meijer work family deeply and was proud to have worked alongside of so many for many years.

He is preceded in death by his father Larry Alfrey and both maternal and paternal grandparents.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday October 26, 2022, from 2-4pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson.
