Ervin Lee “Booty” Melson Jr, age 68, of Anderson, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 30, 2022. He was born on July 6, 1954, to the late Ervin Lee Melson Sr. and Barbara Ann (Norton) Melson.
Ervin worked as a ground’s keeper for the city of Anderson for many years. He was a quiet man that kept to himself. He was quite the character, a joker in some sense. He was private but loved to spend time with his family. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved basketball and golf. He had lots of friends and anywhere he would go, someone knew him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ervin is survived by his sister Sally Derexson (Mike); nieces Shelly Derexson O’Bryant and Chasity Rees (Robbie), Brandan Derexson (April), Teri Melson, Misha Melson, Christopher Melson, and Tara Coppler; great nieces and nephews Chelsea Finley (Spencer), Raylee Buck, Sara Cravens (Jaren), Tyler Derexson, Andrew Derexson, Cameron Rees, Liza Rees, Anna Rees, Allison Rees, Makinna Marshel; special friend Tim Herb, and son Danieal Crail.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ervin Melson Sr and Barbara Melson; and brothers Michael and Danny Melson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to April Wable for her kindness in helping care for Ervin.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday August 12, 2022, from 3-5pm with a funeral service beginning at 5pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Service – Anderson. Pastor Joe Dagostino will be officiating.
