Ernest Mathew Bond

Ernie M. Bond, 63, of Indianapolis, left this life on July 23, 2023, due to a sudden heart attack.  Ernie was born on July 23, 1960, in Anderson, IN, to the late Luke Bond and Nancy (Baker) Granger.  He attended Anderson High School.

Ernie was a tree surgeon, who started cutting trees at the age of 17 and continued till his final day.  He was employed by Steve Due.  Ernie would go out of the state to assist with his services with many hurricane situations.  He was proud of his abilities to do this and was a mentor to many.  One of Ernie’s favorite past times was to scratch off lottery tickets.

He is preceded in death by his parents, mentioned above; brother, Steve Bond; ex-wife, Julie Bond; and 25-year partner, Pam Smith.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Amy Bond; 3 children, Amber Bond, Robert James Hilligoss, and Katie Hilligoss; 3 sisters, Tami (Brian) Benton, Leah (Dave Grovenburg) Bond, and Cynthia Granger; 7 grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Friday August 4, 2023 from 3-4pm with a funeral service beginning at 4pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Services – Anderson.
