Eric Dwight Lackey, 50, of Reelsville, Indiana, passed away after a brief battle with esophageal cancer on June 28, 2024. He was born on October 21, 1973, and was the son the late Delores and John Lackey.
Eric grew up in Wheaton, Maryland, and he owned and operated a small card and comic book shop before moving to Indiana in 1997. Upon moving to Indiana, Eric found employment at International Automotive Components (IAC) in Greencastle. He worked at the Greencastle IAC for over 20 years, and he continued working in factories for the remainder of his life.
When he wasn't being irritated at work, Eric was a loving father to his two children and a man who had a plethora of hobbies. While there are far too many to list, one of Eric's main hobbies was collecting. He collected everything including coins, comic books, action figures, and media. Eric was a pop culture aficionado (an O.G. geek) who loved Star Wars, The Simpsons, Marvel, DC, and all things horror. During the last few years, he attended various conventions with his family, most notably horror conventions such as Days of the Dead and Horror Hound.
Eric is survived by his partner, Tammy Batchelor; his son, Nashoba Blayne Lackey (Jess); his stepdaughter, Sammy (Alice) Lackey; his three sisters: Valerie, Nicole, and Delaney; and his brother, Michael. Eric was preceded in death by his parents, John and Delores Lackey; and by his brother, Johnny Lackey.
There will be a celebration of life for Eric Lackey to be held at a later date.
