Ellen Louise Dilk

Ellen Louise Dilk, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away on September 5, 2022.  She was born on January 10, 1940, in Barberton, OH, to the late Charles W. and Vida F. (Henley) Jenney.  Ellen graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Akron, OH then attended Ohio State University.  She spent several years raising her boys before she trained as a behavioral therapist, finding her passion in utilizing hypnosis to treat patients.  She taught many seminars on hypnosis throughout the State of Indiana. Ellen worked with the Indiana House of Representatives to establish the first approved School of Hypnosis in the State of Indiana.  In 2009, Governor Mitch Daniels appointed Ellen to the first Indiana Hypnosis Committee, which oversaw the hypnosis education programs in the State of Indiana.  Ellen closed her practice in 1999 but stayed involved with hypnosis education until 2010.

Ellen enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was always looking for a bargain and enjoyed looking through garage sales, thrift stores and the occasional toss-aways for something to refurbish into a treasure.  Ellen was very enthusiastic in celebration of the holidays, especially Saint Patrick’s Day.  She was often seen in the Marco Island, FL Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, decked out in green and shamrocks!

She is preceded in death by her parents, mentioned above; sister Anne Marie Calzone; brothers Charles Edward and John William Jenney, and stepson Douglas Ray Dilk.

Ellen is survived by her husband of 39 years, Leland Dilk; children Michael (Terry) and John (Ann) Gegner, and stepdaughter Debbie (Rich) Girard.  Ellen was blessed with eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren (with one more on the way!)
