E. Jane McVey, born June 9, 1944, passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with kidney cancer that led to renal failure. She was 81 years old.
A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Jane’s life was defined by her dedication to her family, and faith. She was a proud and active member of both the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she found fellowship, purpose, and deep-rooted connections to history.
Jane is survived by her three loving sons: Brian McVey, Darren McVey (Jennifer), and James McVey (Shannon). Her legacy continues through her six cherished grandchildren: MaKayla Brown, Brandin McVey (Katelyn), Caleb “Kay” McVey, Riley McVey, Benjamin McVey, and Bridget McVey. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Jozzlynn Brown, Zayden Stanner, and MaKenzi McVey, who brought her immeasurable joy in her later years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Arthur McVey, parents Homer and Mildred Mathews and sister Phyllis Jean Miller.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 9th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1215 Jackson St., Anderson, IN 46016. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. to celebrate and honor Jane’s remarkable life.
