Douglas Smith

Douglas Smith, 76, of Indianapolis passed away November 8, 2023. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 11, 1947, and he spent most of his youth growing up in San Antonio, Texas. Douglas proudly served his country in the United States Army from September 13, 1966, until his honorable discharge on September 12, 1969. After serving in the Army, Doug moved to Indianapolis.

Among the survivors left to cherish his memory is his wife of seven years, Ellen Smith; his children: Kristy Smith and Stacy (Tony) Pope; his stepchildren: Courtney (Chad) Sharp and Zacary Henceroth; and his grandchildren: Sydney, Devin, Siera, Deja, Ameera, Mya, and Jordan. He is also survived by the mother of his children: Janet Smith. Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Virginia Smith.

Doug enjoyed NASCAR, Notre Dame Football, the San Antonio Spurs, the Indianapolis Colts, and traveling to the mountains of Tennessee.

In keeping with Doug's wishes, a cremation will take place. If individuals would like to make a memorial contribution in honor of Douglas Smith, donations may be made to an animal shelter of one's choice.
