Douglas Richard Landau

We are saddened to announce the passing of Douglas Richard Landau. Doug passed on September 12, 2022, at the age of 69. He was surrounded by loved ones and friends. He died in his home in Indianapolis, IN. Doug is survived by his children: Benjamin and Rachel. He is also survived by his mother, Virginia (Ginny) Landau-Adair, and two brothers, Stephen and Ronald.

Doug was born in Detroit, MI on August 14, 1953. He graduated from I.U.P.U.I. with a degree in Microbiology. Then he started working at the Indiana State Department of Health. He continued to grow in his position and after 29 years, retired. He was given a recognition of service for “Excellence in Public Health”.

Doug was a man of service in all that he did. After his stepfather died, Doug provided a place for his mom, Ginny, to stay. He took care of her until the end of his life. He also took care of his many animals. From the wild birds with his many birdfeeders, to the fish in his pond, to his beloved cats, Doug always appreciated the animals around him. He especially loved his cats, starting with Whiskers, then Midnight. After those two, he got Norton and most recently Patches. Doug was their life-long companion, and he loved them dearly.

Doug cherished going north to Minnesota every year. He looked forward to fishing with his brothers and spending time outdoors. He would bring back his catches to savor them throughout the fall and winter. Doug also took pride in his garden. He would share many of the wonderful vegetables and loved taking care of all his colorful flowers.

He would host many family functions at his home. He helped bring the family together for birthdays, holidays and special events. He enjoyed being able to help family come together.
