Dorothea Louise McDonald, age 97, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024, in Anderson, Indiana. Born on April 26, 1927, in Flint, Michigan.
Dorothea was known for her feisty spirit and unwavering dedication to her loved ones. Throughout her life, she demonstrated what it meant to be a hard worker, spending many years as a rework operator for Lear Sigler manufacturing. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her devotion to her family. As the oldest of seven children, Dorothea grew up helping care for her younger siblings, nurturing a lifelong passion for caregiving that remained a cornerstone of her character.
A faithful member of the Florida Station Church of God for many years, Dorothea exemplified strong values and an unwavering faith. Her warmth and generosity made her a cherished friend to many, and her family knew her as a true caregiver who always put their needs before her own.
Dorothea had a remarkable talent for cooking, capable of creating delicious meals from scratch that brought joy to family gatherings. She found happiness in simple pleasures, whether it was taking her family to the beach, enjoying swimming outings, bowling, or participating in activities together. Her vibrant personality shone brightly in all she did, creating lasting memories for those fortunate enough to share in her life.
Dorothea is survived by her two daughters Dolores Lamaster and Darlene Schoenborn; grandchildren Kris Stump (Greg), Kara Merritt, Andy Lamaster, and Jesi Gamelin (John); great-grandchildren Laura Stump, Abby Stump, Allie Edgell (Zach), Olivia Merritt, Lucy Lamaster, Rosy Lamaster, and Ivy Lamaster; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother William "Bill" Jerrils (Elaine); sisters-in-law Marian Jerrils and Carol Walker.
She is preceded in death by her husband Marlow McDonald and her parents Richard and Mary (Austin) Jerrils; sons-in-law Don Shoenborn and Ivan Lamaster; siblings Richard Jerrils, Dorr Jerrils, Dorris Brown, Robert Jerrils, Lewis Jerrils.
Dorothea leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and dedication, serving as an inspiration to those who knew her. Her family, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness will remember her with great affection. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in their hearts.
