Donald L. Thaxton

Donald L. Thaxton, 69, of Monterey, Indiana left his earthly home on December 27, 2022.

He definitely can be remembered as a man that never sat still and was always known to be working on some sort of project. By the time Don was 47 years young he was retiring from his job with Halstab, and his snow plowing business. He then moved to Winamac for retirement. That didn’t happen. He started working for Culver Community School and retired from there a few years back. If Don wasn’t working, you could find him at home finding a project to do.

Don loved to have fun. He always made time for his family and friends. He loved camping, kayaking, fishing, golf or even cruising the town on his gator with his dogs. Don had a huge heart and helped anyone and would give the shirt off his back to help someone. He is someone whom you won’t forget and anyone that crossed his path would have a story to tell. Before he passed, he said “He had a great life and don’t regret anything”. He said not everyone got the chance to meet their soulmate and he got to be with his for over 20years.

Left to cherish Don’s memory are his 3 kids; Kristn Cadle, Robert (Kristina) Thaxton, Donald Thaxton, Jr, grandchildren; Savanna Johnson, Jason, Vanessa, All, Claira, Peyton, Mikey, Crysta, Tyler, Devin, and Zack.

Don was the “Jack of all trades” and there wasn’t much he didn’t know how to do.
