Donald Joseph Barnett, 75, passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2026. He was born on June 15, 1950, in Anderson, Indiana, to Donald and Mary Alice Barnett, who preceded him in death.
Don was born and raised in Anderson and was a graduate of Anderson High School. He served as a firefighter for several years in multiple areas, a role that reflected his outgoing nature and desire to serve others.
Don married DeAnn, in 1988, and they built a life together. An avid golfer, Donald truly loved the game and could often be found on the course. One of his proudest memories came on July 24, 1990, when he scored a hole-in-one at Hickory Hills Golf Course in Parker City. He was also a devoted sports fan, cheering on the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers as well as the Cubs and Indiana University. Above all, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren, who brought him joy.
He is survived by his wife, DeAnn Barnett; his sons, DJ (Michelle) Barnett and Brad (Stephanie) Barnett; his grandchildren, Connor, Camryn, Sydney, and Jillian; and his siblings, Steve (Alice) Barnett, Ann (Jay) Williams, and Tom (Kathy) Barnett; nieces Adrienne Kavanaugh and Stacy Cheney; and nephews Jason Williams, Andy Barnett, Kevin Barnett, and Danny Barnett.
Don will be remembered for his friendly spirit and the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
If you would like to make a donation in memory of Don, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
