Dixie Diane Wells, 73, of Anderson Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on January 9, 2026. She was born on March 10, 1952, in Clinton, Iowa, to Dean Emil Kahler and Phylis Jean Taylor.
Dixie later made Indiana her home, where she attended Indiana Business College and earned a Secretarial degree. She went on to work for more than 30 years as a secretary, serving in many places. Dixie spend several years working at The Salvation Army and retired from the State of Indiana.
Dixie loved the Lord with her whole heart and enjoyed worship wherever she was. She attended Anderson First Church of the Nazarene and also loved visiting other churches, including Florida Station Church of God, as well as the services at Sweet Galilee Assisted Living. Her faith was evident in the way she loved others.
Family was Dixie’s greatest joy, especially her grandchildren. She loved the Lord, her friends, cats, playing bingo, watching true crime, crafting and crocheting, and anything yellow. She was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, Indianapolis Colts, and Indiana Pacers. Dixie was sweet, extra loving, and beautiful inside and out—quiet yet strong, gentle yet full of life.
She is survived by her daughters, Valerie Wilson and Kerri (Michael) Combs; her grandchildren, Lance (Brittney) Wilson, Seth Wilson, Gavin Wilson, Maci Waymire, and Mason Freytag; her great-granddaughter, Brynley Wilson; her siblings, David Kahler, April Kahler, and Michael Kahler; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Kevin Edward West; her half-sister, Catherine Johnson; and her cousin, Sharon Rose.
