Diane Groves Smith

Diane Groves Smith, born on October 26, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana, was the beloved daughter of Vernon and Wanda Groves. Diane passed away in her hometown on June 10, 2025.

Diane devoted herself professionally to the Lawrence Township schools, serving as the office manager for their food services program. Her commitment to the community and the well-being of children was evident in her work. Diane cherished her summers off, taking joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Described as headstrong, she had a deep love for animals, often caring for pets that brought joy into her life. In her leisure time, Diane enjoyed shopping and expressing her creativity through crafting.

Diane is survived by her brothers, Wes Groves and Dave Groves; and a nephew, Jake (Scena) Groves who will carry her memory forward. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, listed above; and her sister, Krista DeWitt.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, providing an opportunity for family and friends to gather in remembrance of Diane's spirit and the impact she had on those around her. In lieu of flowers, her family has kindly requested a donation to be made in her memory to the Lawrence Township Community Cupboard.
