Diane Gray

Indianapolis, IN

Diane Gray, 60. of Indianapolis passed away peacefully at her home on June 29, 2023, from small cell lung cancer. Diane lost her battle with cancer while lying on her favorite sofa and was surrounded by her loved ones.

Diane was born to Vera Waldron (Dotts) and Richard Harris in Indianapolis on December 2, 1962. She graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1980 and served her country in the Army National Guard. Diane worked a variety of jobs including accounts payable and payroll accounting positions. Additionally, she was also employed in corrections and security.

Diane is preceded in death by her mother, Vera Waldron, and her beloved pets: Abbie and Big Red. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Gray, Jr., and her son, Andrew East; a sister, Teresa Harris; another sister, Shawnda Coleman and husband, Richard; a niece, Desiree McKinney Harris and wife, Danielle, and stepdaughter, Kristy; a niece, Tayler Kingery; another niece, Haley Coleman and her children: Izabella “Izzy,” Jordan Jr., and Gabriella “Gabby,”  a nephew, Josh Coleman and his daughter June “June Bug” and her fur babies: Beanie and Max.

Diane absolutely loved animals! She not only cared for pets of her own but also enjoyed bird watching and visiting the Indianapolis Zoo. Her favorite animals at the zoo were the dolphins and the sloths. Diane also enjoyed attending concerts, sampling new foods and ethnic cuisines, and spending time with her family. She loved everyone deeply and always put others ahead of herself.

Instead of a traditional funeral service, Diane requested a celebration of life be held in her honor. Her family invites all of her friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating her beautiful life at Industry, 545 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, from 6-9pm. Because of Diane’s love of animals, the family has requested donations be made to the Indianapolis Zoo in lieu of flowers or memorial gifts. Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services – Indianapolis assisted the family.
