Anderson

David Mark Trisler, 68, left this world on March 6, 2024. Dave was the son of Homer Alvin “Doc” Trisler and Bonita Louise (Houston) Trisler. Dave graduated from Bloomington (IN) High School and attended Indiana University. He was a talented photographer and writer. Dave loved learning about, researching, and writing about the “real” old West and all sorts of paranormal phenomena; he was always up for a history discussion and a good ghost hunt. Dave embraced more of the off-the-beaten-track subjects. He was just as proud of his membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans through his North Carolina Bowman line as he was in honoring his 3rd great-grandfather, Lewis Houston, who died as a Union soldier at Antietam. Dave had a cowboy soul fostered by growing up with horses. Nothing made him happier than riding or going target shooting with family and friends where he would shoot with his collection of revolvers, and with the rifles and shotguns passed down to him from his Dad. He was among the unique people of this world.

The love of Dave’s life, his wife, Janet Gregory Trisler, predeceased him in 2021. He was also predeceased by his parents; his elder sister, Judith Kaye Trisler; his stepdaughter, Sherry Jackson Jones; his step-nephews, Dustin Jackson and Kalin Storie. Dave is survived by his son, Ryan “Alex” Trisler (partner Jenny); his grandchildren Elyria, Xavier, and Killian Trisler; his stepchildren Randy Jackson, Joseph Jackson, David Jackson, Miriam Jackson Storie, and Sarah Jackson Zanoni; his sister, Constance Trisler Shotts; his niece, Chantelle Shotts Petchul; his grandniece, Shannan Petchul; step-nieces and step-nephews Amber Shallenberger, Ashley Waite, Brittany, Alex, and Brandon Jackson and Brennan and Jace Storie; his first wife, Debbie, and her children, Stacy and Becky; several cousins and other extended family; and a host of friends including his church family and online friends.

A celebration of life service for Dave will be held at Gethsemane Foursquare Church (2320 E. 38th Street, Anderson, Indiana) on April 6, 2024, at 2 p.m. with pastor Bob Henderson. Family and friends are invited.
