Darrell Wayne Flener of Anderson, IN passed away on May 4, 2024. Born on September 1, 1948, in Butler County, Kentucky, Darrell was the beloved son of Chester T. and Elizabeth Flener. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion.
Some referred to Darrell as a gentle giant, willing to extend a helping hand to anyone in need. His home was always open, even just to talk. Darrell was a proud United States Army veteran, he held deep interests in martial arts, army and action movies, as well as cars. He was an avid sports fan, particularly passionate about IU basketball, and followed the Colts and Pacers games. Darrell also enjoyed fishing.
A valued member of the American Legion Post 127, Darrell found joy in connecting with fellow veterans and serving his community.
He is survived by his children, Shaun Flener and Shannon Tracy, and his grandsons: Taylor Flener, Parker Tracy, Brayden Flener, Eli Flener, and Elliot Flener.
Darrel is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Elizabeth Flener. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him—a man of generosity, strength, and a warm heart.
