Darin Wade Harrold, affectionately known by his friends as “Peters” and “Sweetie,” passed away peacefully at 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Waters of Covington, where he had resided for the past few months.

Born on May 20, 1977, in LaPorte, Indiana, Darin was the son of the late Linda Harrold and David Harrold. After graduating from high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Army before pursuing a career in construction and various trades, working hard until his health began to decline last year.

The greatest joy of Darin’s life was the birth of his daughter, Brylee. He lit up whenever he spoke of her and treasured every moment they shared, especially during his recent illness.

Darin never met a stranger. He was known for his kindness, easygoing nature, and genuine warmth. He loved being outdoors -- boating on the river, relaxing around a campfire, playing foosball with friends, fishing anywhere he could, or simply spending time with his loyal dog, Otis. A talented cook, Darin always added his own creative twist to every dish. He was also a skilled craftsman, capable of transforming a block of wood into a beautiful piece of art. Over the years, he collected an impressive array of knives and could always be counted on to have one handy.

In his final months, Darin was at peace. His strong faith in God gave him comfort and strength as he approached the end of his journey. He talked of heaven often and is now enjoying eternity -- free from the cancer and pain.

He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandparents. He is survived by his father, David Harrold (Lindsae); his daughter, Brylee; his sister, Shelley (Mark); his nieces, Hope, Sophia, and Cadee; his brother, Kevin; nephews, Jensen and Bennett; and his faithful dog, Otis. Darin is also remembered and loved by many dear friends who became like family.

Private services will be held for Darin’s family and close friends.
