Dallas Norman

Dallas Norman, age 85, of Brownsburg, Indiana, was born April 29, 1940, in Jackson, Kentucky, to Joseph and Rachel Strong Norman, who preceded him in death.

On August 4, 1962, Dallas married the love of his life, Judith Jo Atkerson.  They shared nearly 60 years together until her passing on March 10, 2022. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Donald Norman, Robert (Cathy) Norman, and Rachel Shirrell.

Dallas was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: Shelby (Jake) McFaddin, Abigail (Nick) Parnell, Zachery Norman, Allison (Raghav Sharma) Norman, Samuel Norman, William Shirrell, and Jesse Shirrell. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Andrew McFaddin and Thalia Parnell, with another great-grandson, Jaxson McFaddin, on the way.

Dallas grew up in Jackson, Kentucky, with his parents and 10 siblings, all of whom preceded him in death. He worked for 32 years at the Ford Motor Company assembly plant in Indianapolis, where he developed many lasting friendships.

A man of faith, Dallas attended Meadlawn Christian Church, where he both married Judy and was baptized. He enjoyed a full life surrounded by family and friends. Beyond his work and church, Dallas found joy in playing golf, bowling and watching television. Two of his favorite lifelong pastimes were playing cards and betting on the ponies.

Dallas is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: sisters-in-law, Anna Norman, Peggy Kennington, and Kay (Mike) Peacock: brother-in-law, Gary (Lois) Atkerson: and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, son-in-law Robert Shirrell, in-laws Virgil and Helen Bader Atkerson, and all 10 of his siblings.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025,

 with visitation from 1p - 2p, and service beginning at 2p
