In Loving Memory of Colonel Haze Riddle.

Colonel age 87, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026.

Born on September 7, 1938, in Cumberland, Kentucky. Colonel was the son of the late Hershal Paul Riddle and Sally Kathleen (Jennings) Riddle. He was a man of strong character, unwavering dedication, and a generous spirit who touched the lives of many throughout his remarkable journey.

Colonel attended Arsenal Technical in Indianapolis, where he studied blueprinting. Throughout his life, he mastered numerous skilled trades, including carpentry, roofing, maintenance, and many years working in the oil fields. His work ethic was second to none, and he took great pride in every task he undertook. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Colonel served his country honorably and carried that same sense of duty and commitment into every aspect of his life.

He was known for his willingness to help others, always ready to lend a hand, share his knowledge, or offer support whenever it was needed. Outside of work, Colonel found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved gardening, fishing, and repairing small engines. Whether tending his garden, spending a day on the water, or bringing an old engine back to life, he found fulfillment in working with his hands and sharing those passions with others. He also enjoyed watching Western movies and listening to Country music with his loved ones.

Colonel is survived by his loving partner of 20 years, Sharon Gregory, and her family Tommy, Brenda, Ava and family, and Dusty, Shellie and family whom he embraced and loved as his own. He is also survived by Steve Young and his wife Bobby Joe whom he raised as his own son; his daughters, Luanne Hays, (Mark Hays), and Starla Riddle Weiss and her husband Jay Weiss. He leaves behind cherished grandchildren Brenton, Blake, Brandon and Craig. Along with great-grandchildren Carter, Peter, Jasper, Mathias, Lehlianna, Crysta, M.J., Jacob, Braden, Casey, and Remi. He is also survived by his siblings Shelby, Paulette, and Dian, as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

Colonel will be remembered for his kindness, strength, generosity, and steadfast devotion to his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the love he shared. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 11, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Colonel’s honor. Though he has departed this life, his memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
