Clara Ann Walker Leslie was a twin and the middle child of the late John and Bertha Walker, born March 21, 1939, and departed Earth on September 13, 2022, at her home.
She attended Frist Baptist Church where she professed her faith in Christ. Clara graduated from Bate High School and later earned her cosmetology license. She worked as a private maid and a custodian at IUPUI, where she retired.
She was a devoted mother and tirelessly worked two jobs to provide for her family. Clara was a loving authoritative parent that spoke her mind with no filter. She had a dramatic flair with words. Being a dedicated child, she cared for her mother and mother-in-law until their deaths.
Before her health declined, she was an avid traveler, going to any city with a casino, but especially loved Las Vegas. Cleaning and making home improvements kept her bury, but she adored entertaining and making holidays and birthdays special with elaborate menus and decorations throughout the house. With her green thumb, she grew beautiful house plants and vegetables, canning her bounty and sharing with family and friends.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, John and Betha Walker; siblings, John Walker, Rose Walker Hargrave, Carl Walker and Henry Walker. She leaves behind two children, James Clifford Leslie Jr. and Tabitha Bertrille Leslie; one sister, Beulah Walker Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
