Christianna Dawn Mendez Heitzman, born on October 13, 2002, in Indianapolis, Indiana, was a vibrant individual and a source of light in the lives of many. She sadly passed away in her hometown of Indianapolis on Saturday, May 31st, 2025, leaving behind treasured memories and a legacy of resilience.
Christianna was a cherished mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend. She was most prominently known for her amazing singing, sense of humor, ability to bring joy and contagious laughter to those around her. She always managed to have a smile in the roughest of times. An athlete at heart, she showcased her talents in various sports, such as basketball, soccer, and track. She was especially proud to have been a member of her Jr. High boys football team, displaying not just her talent but her tenacity and grit. She attended school at Anderson Preparatory Academy, Muncie Central, as well as Arsenal Technical High School, where she made lasting impressions on those around her.
Adriana, Jose, and her dog, Chapo, were the lights of her life. Ever since Jose and Christianna were babies, they were inseparable, they had an unbreakable bond. Jose had always been her best friend, the person she could turn to in good times and bad. Adriana became their whole world the day she was born, in March of 2022. Since then, since then, they have put her above everything, she was the top of their worlds. They spoiled her with love, devotion, and affection. Jose and Adriana were the two people she adored most in her lifetime. Chapo was Christianna's baby, she loved and adored Chapo.
For those who may need comforting, please know that Christianna did not fear death. As many of you may know, Christianna had been through a lot in her life and oftentimes struggled to find the peace she deserved. Christianna found comfort in knowing that when her time came, she would finally find the peace that she yearned. Her last wishes were for everyone to be happy for the time we had with her and for us to know she is now free from her emotional pain and suffering.
You, Christianna Dawn Mendez Heitzman, will be severely missed. We love you, Christianna, and may you rest in peace with our beloved Michelle. May you find the peace you sought in this lifetime, in the afterlife.
She is survived by her precious daughter, Adriana, Adri Bear as she would call her; her loving grandparents, Dale and Linda Heitzman and Ediberto Mendez; her parents: mom, Tammy Heitzman; step-dad, Marcos; dad, Carlos Mendez; step-mom, Laura; her siblings: best friend and brother, Jose; Karina, Stephanie, Vanessa, Emma, Brandon, and Karla. Christianna also leaves behind a couple of uncles, numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, numerous cousins, second cousins, and her beloved baby (her dog), Chapo, who were all significant parts of her life.
Visitation will be from 2pm to 3pm on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46226, with a Celebration of Life to start at 3pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, her family has kindly requested a donation to the support and care of Christianna’s daughter, Adriana.

La visita será de 2 p.m. a 3 p.m. el viernes 13 de junio de 2025, en Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, Indianápolis, IN 46226, con una Celebración de la Vida que comenzará a las 3 p.m. en la casa funeral.
