**In Loving Memory of Chela C. Desruisseaux**

**June 10, 1998 – October 11, 2026**

Chela Desruisseaux, a beloved wife, daughter, sister, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2026, at the age of 28. Known for her radiant, bright smile, warmth, and gentle spirit, Chela was a beautiful soul inside and out who brought boundless joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Chela was born on June 10, 1998, in Cazale, Haiti, to her loving parents, Cherel and Dernicia. Raised by her godmother, her family remained a constant source of love in her heart, even from afar as they resided in Haiti.

Driven by devotion and a courage that defined her life, Fenley moved to Chile seeking a better life in 2016 and following Chela moved to Chile in 2017 to be reunited with the love of her life, Fenley (Hermann) Desruisseaux. Together, Chela and Fenley embarked on an extraordinary journey of love, resilience, and faith. In 2021, they braved a months-long journey on foot through South and Central America to Mexico, where they waited faithfully for nine months for legal entry into the United States.

In July 2022, through the love and generosity of Fenley’s sister, Madisyn, and her husband, Watson George, Chela and Fenley were welcomed into the United States. They lived with the Georges in Indianapolis, Indiana, for two years as they built their new life. That same year, Chela and Fenley officially tied the knot at By His Grace Ministries in Anderson, Indiana, in a beautiful ceremony officiated by Pastor Susan Jones. In 2024, through hard work and shared determination, they both secured employment at Amazon in Whitestown and proudly achieved the milestone of moving into their very own home.

Chela was a vibrant, happy person who was truly full of life. She found her greatest happiness in simple, meaningful moments; going to church, dancing, cooking delicious meals for her family, doing hair, and going on outings with Fenley and hanging out with her family and friends. Her kindness knew no bounds; she was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. To Fenley, Chela was his entire world, and he was deeply proud to call her his wife.

On September 24, 2025, Chela and Fenley were involved in a severe single car accident that left Chela in a coma. For over a year, Fenley and his family stood by her with unwavering love and hope. Fenley spent three months sleeping on the hospital floor by her side and visited her every single day after. Friends, family, and compassionate strangers in different states united in prayer, hoping for a miracle for Chela. Though our hearts are shattered by her passing, the legacy of her strength, her deep capacity for love, and her unforgettable spirit will remain with us forever.

Chela is survived by her devoted husband, Fenley Desruisseaux; her parents, Cherel (last name) and (mother full name), her brother and sister; her sister-in-laws Madisyn George, Mania Sineus, Anise Loudnie Marcum, Woldine Villars, Wideleine Desruisseaux, Jeni Dieudonne; brother-in-laws Watson George, Duny Sineus, Wenskey Desruisseaux, Pedro Dieudonne, along with extended family and friends who loved her dearly.

Chela, your warm, bright smile lit up every room you entered, and the beauty of your soul touched lives across oceans and borders. Though our family will never be the same without you, we carry your love, your laughter, and your gentle spirit in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, our sweet angel. You will be deeply loved and truly missed until we meet again.
