Charles David “Dave” Dittlinger, 82, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away on January 7, 2026.

He was born on September 11, 1943, in Anderson to Charles William Dittlinger and Esther Katherine Williamson Dittlinger. Dave was a graduate of Anderson High School and earned a Master’s Degree from Ball State University.

Dave retired after a 39-year career with Delco Remy, after that he also worked part-time in the engineering department at St. John’s Hospital. Dave was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves.

He was married to Peggy Ann Crockett Dittlinger for 60 years. He is survived by his sister Leann Olejniczak and his sons, Timothy Dittlinger (Shannon) and Christopher Dittlinger (Audra); grandchildren Halie Kervaski, Victoria, Anissa, and Bennett Dittlinger; and great-grandson Oliver Kervaski. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Dave enjoyed shooting sports, woodworking, tinkering, and reading, and was known for his hard work ethic, quick wit, and willingness to help others. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Anderson, Madison County Historical Society, Anderson Rifle and Pistol Club, and Monroe Conservation Club and was a member of the American Legion Daleville post 446. He was also a proud Life member of the NRA and the Indiana State Rifle and Pistol Association.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date and information will be provided on the Legacy website.
