Charles "Chuck" Monroe

Charles ‘Chuck’ Monroe, 76, of New Haven died May 14, 2023, in New Haven, surrounded by his loving family. Chuck was born on August 15, 1946, in Rosine KY, to the late Sammie and Mercedes (Logsdon) Monroe and was proceeded in death by an infant sister Brenda Monroe. Chuck moved to Indianapolis in 1955, then to New Haven in 1977, where he lived the duration of his life. He retired last year from his business Chuck’s Furniture Repair and Upholstery of 39 years. Chuck loved spending time with his family, dining out with friends, playing cards, grilling and in years past, golfing and bowling. Chuck was a Marine in the Vietnam War from 1965-1969 with many honors for distinguished service. Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Gloria (Jenkins) Monroe; daughters Tammy (Brian) Gerardot and Melissa Tilley; 6 grandchildren, Mason Childress, Joshua Childress, Lydia Gerardot, Ashleigh Kayser, Abby Pick and Alisha Bontrager; 7 great grandchildren with one on the way; siblings Paxton (Orpha) Monroe, Anita (Emitt) Perry and Wayne Monroe.

 

Funeral Service will be held at Victory Life Church, 1502 Rose Ave., New Haven, IN on Friday May 19, 2023 at 1:30 pm with calling prior from 10am -1:30 pm. Military burial IOOF Cemetery 1109 Hartzell Rd, New Haven, IN following service.

 

In lieu of fresh flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stillwater Hospice of Fort Wayne, Indiana and the local VFW Chapter #47.
