Cathy Ann Menefee

Cathy Ann Menefee, beloved daughter, mother, and grandmother, passed away unexpectedly on September 21, 2023, in Anderson, Indiana. She was born in Anderson on March 9, 1955, to Ralph Turpen and Beverly Downey. Cathy had a second father figure in Hubert Downey.

Cathy dedicated 25 years of her life to working for Speedway Gas Station, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to her career. Her hard work and loyalty were recognized and appreciated by all those who knew her.

Beyond her professional achievements, Cathy had a charming and relaxed personality. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life - painting her nails exquisitely and cherishing precious moments with her children and grandchildren. Her warm presence will forever be missed by all who were fortunate enough to share in these special times with her.

One of Cathy's most treasured relationships was with her life-long best friend Tina Zook. Their enduring friendship brought immeasurable joy to Cathy's life, creating countless unforgettable memories along the way.

To honor Cath's memory, visitation will be held on October 4, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Legacy Funeral Home in Anderson. The address is 504 W 9th St in Anderson, IN.  A funeral service will follow the visitation at the same location on October 4th from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing an opportunity for family members and friends to pay their final respects to Cathy.

During this difficult time of loss, we extend our deepest condolences to Cathy's surviving family members and friends. Survivors include ex-husband David Joe Shields and Steve Menefee; son Jason Shields (Joni); stepchildren Devin Mitchell and Jon Menefee; grandchildren Brooke Wilkerson (Shak), Jaquline Vives (Manny), Jaycee Shields, Alexis Shields, Anna May Shields, Braden Shields, and Ryan Lawson; many great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her father Ralph Turney, mother Beverly Downey, stepfather Hubert Downey, brother Steve Turpen, son Jarrett Shields, grandson David Jarrett Shields, and granddaughter Cheyenne Hewitt.

Cathy Ann Menefee touched the lives of many during her time with us. Her dedication, warmth, and zest for life will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
