Carol Jan Thomason

Carol Jan Thomason, 61, of Indianapolis, passed away on December 15, 2022.  She was born on May 27, 1961, in Mattoon, IL.  Carol attended Warren Central High School and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1979. Subsequently, she received her associate degree from Ivy Tech Indianapolis.  She was a concrete lab technician for ATC Associates for 15 years, but more recently she worked as an independent contractor for ride-sharing services.  

Carol loved spending time with family and was known by all for putting others before herself. She helped an immeasurable number of people and animals in her lifetime and was a firm believer in second chances. Carol was creative; she started off sketching in her younger years, which then developed into paintings and eccentric creations. She could take the smallest of things and turn them into something beautiful and unique. She loved her husband and children with all her heart and strived to be present for all their successes. Carol was arguably one of the most giving people one could ever meet, and anyone who met her knew that within minutes.  

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Betty Jo Strange and Jack Thomason. 

Carol is survived by her husband of 4 years (together 14), Jonathan Cook; children, Amanda Cunningham & Michael Hammer; soon to be grandchild, Rylee Jo Cunningham; twin sister, Chris Stafford (Dave); sister, Dianne Mitchell; brothers, Jack Thomason, Art Thomason (Theresa), Bill Thomason (Marianne), & Jim Thomason (Liz); nieces, Lisa Harris, Angela Thomason, Clarice Thomason, Kimberly Thomason, Meghan Hankins; and nephews, Bryan Willis, Tyler Stafford, Jacob Stafford, Nat Thomason, Joseph Harris.

There will be a “Celebration of Life” held on January 14, 2023, at the VFW Post 261. The address is: 10550 Pendleton Pike, Indianapolis, IN 46236. We will hold a gathering to share our favorite memories from 2-4 PM, followed by a service at 4 PM.
