Brenda Kaye Mathewson

Brenda Kaye Mathewson, 68, of Anderson, Indiana, entered into glory on August 20th, 2025. She was born on January 7, 1957, in Lodi, Ohio, to Fred Charles and Adele Mathewson.

Brenda was a free spirit and a wanderer at heart, always eager to meet new people and find joy in new places. After moving to Indiana for a fresh start, she built a life full of laughter, kindness, and connection. She was happiest when surrounded by people and was known for her big smile, her silly and funny nature, and her love for children and babies, she never passed up a chance to stop and talk with them.

A devoted member of Central Community Chapel, Brenda deeply loved her church family. Her faith was steady and strong; she read her Bible every single day and carried God’s word with her wherever she went. She also enjoyed music and dancing, shopping, dining out, doing crafts, and spending time outdoors. Though once afraid of water, Brenda came to love pontoon rides, cookouts, picnics, and trips to the lake.

Brenda’s life was not without hardship, and she bravely survived domestic violence. Yet in her last 12 years, she experienced a season of peace, happiness, and fulfillment.

She is survived by her brother, Lee (Trudy) Mathewson, sister, Lori Hearn, and special friends Ruth Malone, Betty Jarvis, and Mary Havens.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Adele Mathewson; brothers David Mathewson, Eddie Mathewson, and Jimmy Miller; and sisters Janine Pangrac, Doris May Mathewson, Marion Humphries, Shirley Nichols, Nellie Troutman, and Jackie Smith.

Brenda will be remembered as someone who loved everyone, lived with joy, and found beauty in both the simple and meaningful moments of life.
