Billy David Leever

November 7, 1931 — August 3, 2025

Anderson, IN

Billy David Leever passed away peacefully at his home on August 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 7, 1931, in Anderson, Indiana, Billy lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication, creativity, and an unshakable work ethic.

A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Billy served as an aviation mechanic and later carried his talents into civilian life as a skilled toolmaker at Delco Remy. He was blue-collar through and through—hardworking, dedicated, and always ready to lend a hand.

In retirement, Billy found joy in the simple things: fishing, golfing, and crafting birdhouses in his workshop. His handiwork and resilience earned him viral recognition as “the veteran with Parkinson’s who made birdhouses,” a title he carried with pride. Despite facing health challenges, he remained active and engaged, never losing his sense of humor or his love for people.

A talented singer and harmonica player, Billy sang in many barbershop quartets and was always quick to break into song. He was a family man, a people person, and a strong presence in every room he entered.

Billy was a longtime member of several organizations that were dear to him: the Chesterfield American Legion Post 408, the Masonic Lodge, and the Madison County Shrine Club. His life was a testimony to service, skill, and pride.

He is survived by his children: Pam Ravage, Jerry (Amy) Leever, and Lisa Leever; grandchildren Derek (Nichole) Keesling and Jo (Caitlin) Leever; and great-grandson Colton Keesling. He also leaves behind beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, BeaAnne Leever; his parents, Harold Leever Sr. and Brittie Marté Harless-Smith; and his siblings, Harold Leever Jr., Gary Leever, and Phyllis Eldridge.

In honor of Billy’s life and legacy, memorial contributions may be made to the Chesterfield American Legion Post 408.

He taught us to build, to sing, to serve, and to love without hesitation. His birdhouses may sit still, but his life’s impact will echo for generations to come.
