Betty Joyce Shaw

Betty Joyce Shaw peacefully passed from this world into the next on September 22, 2026, at the age of 89.

Born on January 21, 1937, in Anderson, Indiana, Betty lived a full and vibrant life marked by love, independence, and devotion to her family. She attended Anderson High School and went on to graduate from Marion College, where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. Throughout her career and life, Betty touched many lives with her caring spirit and compassionate heart.

Betty enjoyed traveling and especially loved time spent at the beach. While she appreciated adventure, some of her favorite moments were the simple ones spent relaxing, watching movies, and enjoying the comfort of home.

With an independent spirit and a delightfully unique personality, Betty lived life on her own terms. Her spontaneity, generosity, and deep love for family brought joy to those around her and created memories that will be cherished for years to come. Though she was a daughter, nurse, wife, mother, sister, and friend, Betty's heart was fullest when she was being "Nanny." The time she shared with her grandchildren was among her greatest joys.

Betty is survived by her children, Cynthia Kay Reed, Richard J. Ratz, Danny R. Ratz, Gerald Shaw Jr., David Shaw, and Cheryl Ongley; along with many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, extended family members, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on September 29th, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. and a funeral service celebrating Betty's life will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, Anderson.

Though Betty will be greatly missed, her independent spirit, generous heart, and love for family will continue to be reflected in the countless memories shared by those who knew and loved her. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the lives she touched along the way.
