Betty Lou Hiter was born on December 15, 1944, in Indianapolis Indiana and passed away at home on April 17, 2026, at the age of 81.
Betty (Bett) will be remembered for her extraordinary sense of adventure. She embraced life with enthusiasm for skydiving, hot air balloons, and enjoyed helicopter rides.
Her adventurous soul also enjoyed going to any casino and traveled to many including Las Vegas and the Bahamas. Betty also enjoyed fishing with many friends and family. Her fondest memories were made fishing with her sisters.
Betty is survived by her only child Edmond Leroy Hiter with her late husband, Willie Ed Hiter.
Betty was very proud of her son and the man he has become.
Betty leaves behind many family members, including sisters, and nieces and nephews. She had a special relationship with her niece, Christy Fishburn, as they were always there to support each other throughout the years.
Betty was one of 14 siblings and was willing to help any of them when she could.
Betty is preceded in death by her late husband, Willie Ed Hiter, her mother Mary Helen Underwood, her stepfather Clifford Edmond Jackson, and her biological father, Harry Cardinal
Betty loved her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Betty, will we be remembered for her great spirit and enjoyed life to the fullest with a lot of love.
Funeral services to honor the life of Betty Lou Hiter will be held at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services—Lawrence, located at 5215 N. Shadeland Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana. The service will begin at 11:30 am on Monday, April 27, 2026. Family and friends are invited to a visitation starting at 10:30 AM on the same day to share memories and pay their respects.
