Betty Jane Capps

Betty Jane Capps, 69, of Mecca, Indiana, was found, passed away, on September 17, 2023.  She had been missing since June 29, 2023.  Betty Jane was born on August 19, 1954, in Versailles, Indiana.  She grew up in Anderson, Indiana and Osgood, Indiana, where she graduated from Jac-Cen-Del High School.  Betty Jane was a bookkeeper for Miller’s Merry Manor and Countryside Manor, in Indianapolis and Anderson. 

Betty Jane loved music, and she instilled this love in her son, Joe. Betty Jane had a close circle of friends that she loved to visit with, and the visiting usually included enjoying coffee, diet coke, and cigarettes. 

Betty Jane is preceded in death by her husband, John “Stub” E. Capps, grandparents (who raised her and adopted her), Russell and Beatrice Hall, biological mother, Jeanann Becklehimer, brother-in-law and sister, Bob and Betty Martin.

Betty Jane is survived by her son, Joseph “Joe” W. Rector II and his wife Katie; Cousins, Lee and Terry Lamb; step-children, Melanie Capps and Johnny Capps, and many grandchildren.

There will be a Memorial Gathering from 2:30 to 4:30 on Thursday, October 5^th, at Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services, 504 W. Ninth Street, Anderson, IN 46016. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Parke-Vermillion County Humane Society.
